The Environmental Factor

MadeInBritain

Nedz are proud to be a British made product which means we keep our carbon footprint low by growing and sourcing local straw. The straw is then all processed at our local plant to create the product and avoiding the materials being moved up and down the country. All three of our products, Nedz Original, Nedz Pro and Nedz Advance are highly biodegradable, breaking down much quicker than wood-based products. Within three months our bedding will have rotted down and will be suitable to be used as a fertilizer or to continue biodegrading naturally.

The plastic we use for our bales is 100% recyclable and contains 30% post consumer waste. Some local authorities do not yet have the facilities to deal with this type of plastic so until these facilities are more readily available, we are looking at ways that we can help facilitate customers to recycle their used bale plastic.

Some facts around recycling

R

The concept of “Single-Use” plastics is a myth. Every type of plastic is recyclable, it’s the consumer habits and improvements in recycling infrastructure that need to be addressed to enable this.

R

Packaging labelled “biodegradeable” or “compostable” will not break down naturally, only in industrial composting facilities.

R

Manufacturing and distribution of the same quantity of paper bags produces 70 times more air pollution and 50 times more water pollution compared to plastic

R

Paper takes 91 times more energy to recycle compared to plastic

R

Paper bags contaminated with food oils cannot be recycled as part of the mainstream recycling infrastructure
