Mary's final word for 2011!

"Wow what an amazing year 2011 has been," Mary tells us. "I hope I haven't used up all my luck before London 2012! Winning the HSBC Classic Series, and finishing no.1 on the HSBC World Rankings was the highlight of this year making 2011 my most successful to date!"

"The selectors are interested in both Imperial Cavalier or Kings Temptress for the Olympics and have given the owners and I a pretty free rein with next years preparations, which is exciting! Apache Sauce is also on the long list but in the lower group of horses. The Germans are very strong, but the New Zealanders, Australians, Americans and French are all on the up so we need to leave no stone unturned if we are going to produce our best at the end of July (and then hope our best is good enough!)"

"Fernhill Urco is having time off due to an injury. After finishing 2nd at Kentucky (and gaining his Olympic qualification) he had a holiday but sadly sustained an injury early this autumn. We will give him plenty of time off and focus on him as a possible 2012 European Championship horse."

"The 2 young horses have progressed beautifully. MHS King Joules ugraded to intermediate level and felt very capable at his first 3 day event, the CCI* at Aldon where he finished 3rd. Cavalier Venture, who at 5yrs old is a year younger, competed quietly at a number of novice events in July/August and feels an exciting horse for next year."

"Emily, my daughter and a wonderful autumn season getting picked to ride as an individual at the Junior European Championship in Portugal. What a fantastic experience it was for her. Riding Patsy Masons Mr Hiho she nearly won the individual Gold, but a second show jump down, having been in the lead, put her down to 7th. It was very disappointing for her, but I feel it was not a bad thing she didnt win at her first attempt. She was the youngest in the GB squad and has 3 more years of junior level. It has certainly given her a big boost for the future."

"The money I won this year is going to get swallowed up by a larger horse box. With Emily doing more my 10 year old lorry which carries 4/5 horses is not big enough, so am on the hunt for a 6 horse lorry which isn't too ridiculously expensive! When I find one I will be in touch with those of you who have their logos on the side."

"Thank you to everyone for all your support.....have a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and prosperous New Year!"
