Geoff Billington - Planning for next season

Nedz rider Geoff Billington updates us on what he has been up to over the last few weeks, from competing at music festivals to teaching around the country and bringing on his youngsters, Geoff is never one to take it easy!

"At the end of July, we were invited to take part in Car Fest at Bolesworth, which was part of Chris Evan’s event to raise money for BBC Children in Need. There was a small group of people invited to take part and myself and Sarah were two of them.  Sarah was fourth in the main class with Uforia JX and then I won the relay race with a little 12.2 SJ rider called Harry Coupe."

"It was a great event to be part of. There were thousands of people watching the event so it was really fun to be jumping in front of that size crowds again."

"After that we then headed onto to Arena UK with 10 horses, all which are young. We did a few classes and all went well. No major wins but for 4 and 5-year-old horses they performed well. This year we have had a lot of young horses to bring on and I have two I am really excited about. One has only been to one show but is showing great promise now he has settled down. He is called Tybalt and is out of Sarah’s good mare Uforia JX. The other 4-year-old is called Diamond Rock and I think he could also be pretty special. Next year we will really be concentrating on the Young Horse classes."

"I then competed at Scope with ELO in the Grand Prix however we ended up having four faults."

"Between the jumping we have also managed to fit in heading to William Whitakers wedding which was great fun and of course I have been teaching a lot. I am actually heading to Essex for a few days to do some teaching down there before coming back and getting 11 horses ready to head back to Arena UK."

"Again we are taking some young horses along which will be competed between myself, Sarah and our stable jockey."

"Over the next few months though we have some fun things to look forward to. At the beginning of October, we have Nick Skelton’s Gold Medal party – as you can imagine this should be great fun although I am currently on a diet and not drinking so I am not sure I will be best prepared for it! I will also be going to Your Horse Live again where we will have a new concept this year and then I will also be going to the West Country Equine Fayre so lots to update you on in the coming weeks!"
