A few ups and downs for Steph this month

As we all know with horses, things never quite go to plan! We catch up with Steph Croxford to hear the ups and downs of the past month!

"Mr P went out to do his first test since he was injured and was very good," Steph tells us. "We did a Pick Your Own test at Fieldhouse and he won it with over 66% - I have to admit I was riding with the hand brake on a little bit though! He was then being aimed for Somerford Premier League at the weekend (25th/26th May) and all of last week he was going fabulously!"

"On Friday he was having a chat to Clyde over the metal gate and managed to push it open and proceeded to hoon around the field, I was not amused! I got him in and trotted him up and he was fine, then on Saturday morning I trotted him up again before plaiting and he was sound, we got everyone in the lorry and drove to Somerford but in the warm up he just felt like I was having to push him very hard and was heavy on his right shoulder so I asked Simon to look at him doing an extended trot and he instantly responded with, "Steph... home!" So that was the end of that. Luckily, he is absolutely fine now so we are thinking about taking him to Sheepgate but this time we won't tell him he is going - he seems to always do something when he knows he is going to a competition!"

"Mr Hyde had his trip to the Equine Pathway selection where he behaved impeccably and did everything he was asked of, unfortunately we didn't get selected but we were pleased with how he went. We also have a new pony to play with! Freddie is a 16.2hh 5 year old from Westhill Stud and he seems very nice. He has 4 white socks and a white blaze so he fits with the clan - watch this space for his progress!"
