Victoria Bax's new generation

We caught up with Victoria Bax to find out how the end of the Eventing season is going for her, and most especially her two young horses!

"It's been an extremely, busy month as we are heading towards the end of the Eventing season. My two youngsters have really got going now and appear to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. Next up for them was a trip to Bonfleur xc course for another unaffiliated one day event. Both of them produced lovely dressage tests to be lying in the top 5."

Mary King and Mark Todd go full circle!

We caught up with Mary King to find out how the end of the eventing season has been going for her and Emily...

"I did my last event of the season at Bicton with the young horses, King Bill, King Robert II and Kings Ginger and they were all very good. It was their first Novice classes and all did good dressage scores, show jumped well and went clear cross country. I was really chuffed with their attitude and they were confident and happy at this level. Now they have finished and will have a holiday until they come in for next season in January."

Victoria Bax gets to Gatcombe!

Well it's been a month of highs, and, shall we say, "challenges" for our resilient Victoria Bax! Read all about her adventures at Gatcombe - which started even before she set off!

"The first day of my month started off very nicely but about 6pm that night it all went horribly wrong when we broke down in the lorry 10 miles from home with two youngsters onboard. After being recovered, front lifted and towed home with the horses still on board, we finally arrived home about 9.30pm from their first Horse Trials at Brightling Park with my two youngsters, Alberta's Rose (Tilly) and Alberta's Elegance (Milli) onboard which were bought unbacked at Ascot last June."

Mary King awaits a new arrival

We caught up with Mary King to hear more about all the comings and goings at her stables - and one of the 'comings' is very exciting indeed! Mary has some exciting talent coming through the ranks, and now there'll be four new (tiny) hooves joining in due course!

"Lottie (Kings Choice) has been sold. John Bevan, Pete Appleford, Roger and Gill Trivett her owners, and I, were so sad to see her go, but she has gone to some lovely people in Northern Ireland, where hopefully she will take their daughter on to great success in the junior Irish teams."

Lucy Straker is back on board!

We were so excited to chat to Lucy Straker now that she is up and about after her accident. We've been itching to know how she has progressed, and especially her first time back on board a horse.

"Sorry for the delay in keeping you all updated with my blog but as you heard previously I have been a bit in the wars! Nine and a half weeks ago I was trampled by a young horse who was being a little cheeky about loading in the lorry... I unfortunately tripped as he pulled me sideways off the ramp and fell in front of him where the only place he could get away was over the top of me!!"

Victoria Bax makes a match!

We caught up with Victoria Bax to get the latest from her busy yard - and there is big news in the form of Forrest! A busy month indeed with some highs and lows, and match made between a client and Forrest ...

"So after coming back down to earth after realising that Crysto and I had actually qualified for the British Novice Championships at Gatcombe, it was time to start preparing for Barbury International CIC2*, out first FEI event of the year. Barbury is an absolute favourite of mine.I arranged a couple of extra dressage lessons with my trainer Tina Atkins at her local yard in order that I could run through the dressage test in a full size arena. After the second lesson I was very pleased with how Crysto worked and there was nothing I could do other than keep everything crossed that he could contain his excitement for the 5 minutes required, not too much to ask I don't think!"
